Salt & Samovar Debuts New Tunes on MBE!

Post by: Music News & Events on May 17th, 2008 | File Under Uncategorized

With echoes of Allman Brothers guitar, Exile on Main Street keys and touches of Americana and gospel, Salt & Samovar stormed our studios with new songs for their second performance on Morning Becomes Eclectic.

The band debuted a bunch of tracks (and a new member – keyboardist Jo) and gave a rollicking performance that left singer D.S. out of breath at points – especially after the jam ending the track “Perfume.”

I’ve seen them live a number of times and every performance is a revival with gorgeous harmonies, rolling drums and great camaraderie (they do great impressions of each other’s signature dance moves as well).

The members of Salt & Samovar all have creative day jobs from making perfume (hence the song title – and they brought us all presents too. I got Syberian  Snow – YUM), to making t-shirts, to, well, making babies. The lovely Liam slept through most of the show in the control room while his mom Kelli Scarr rocked out.

Check out this set and head out to the Hotel Café tonight (Fri) if you are in LA.

Hooray! Yahoo Mail ditches tagline ads

Post by: Stephen Shankland on May 17th, 2008 | File Under Uncategorized

Those annoying ads the Yahoo Mail has been appending to the bottom of e-mail messages soon will be a thing of the past.

Some at Yahoo apparently didn't like the taglines, either: this is the example the company used to illustrate how the ads can pile up.
